Partial Job Description: Human Resources Specialist

Base Pay Range: $35,796 – $55,932

Kids Central, Inc. is looking for a Human Resource Specialist to oversee all aspects of human resources practices and processes with strong background in employee and legal requirements and an ability to translate company policy to a diverse staff.

What is a Human Resource Specialist? To us, a Human Resource Specialist is the go-to person for all employee-related issues.   • Develop and implement HR strategies and initiatives aligned with the overall goals of Kids Central, Inc.
  • Bridge management and employee relations by addressing demands, grievances or other issues
  • Manage the recruitment and selection process
  • Support current and future business needs through the development, engagement, motivation and preservation of human capital
  • Develop and monitor overall HR strategies, systems, tactics and procedures for the organization
  • Nurture a positive working environment
  • Oversee and manage a performance appraisal system that drives high performance
  • Maintain pay plan and benefits program
  • Assess training needs to apply and monitor training programs
  • Report to management and provide decision support regularly
  • Ensure legal compliance throughout human resource management


  • A minimum of three years working experience as HR manager or other HR related duties
  • People oriented and results driven
  • Demonstrable experience with human resources management
  • Knowledge of HR systems and databases
  • Excellent active listening, negotiation and presentation skills
  • Competence to build and effectively manage interpersonal relationships at all levels of the company
  • In-depth knowledge of labor law and HR best practices
  • Degree in Human Resources or related field preferred but not mandatory

The base pay range for this position is $35,796 – $55,932 per year. Pay is based on applicant skills and experience and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. A full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, is offered.

The Human Resources Manager reports directly to the Executive Director. This position is responsible for oversight of the Human Resources department and performance of all general human resources functions. Kids Central has a staff of one hundred people serving Wise and Dickenson counties and the City of Norton.
