Kids Central, Inc. Head Start and Early Head Start programs will be using a modified program of instruction for the 2020-2021 school year. We have endeavored to keep the safety of our students and parents at the forefront of every decision that has been made in the development of our proposed program.
The 2020-21 school year marks the start of an important and exciting opportunity for our students to have an outstanding educational, social-emotional experience through distance learning until students are allowed to return to campus.
Kids Central, Inc. is committed to high standards and quality instruction leading to academic improvement at every level of our service. Our staff is ready to extend a heartfelt welcome to our students while acknowledging the difficulties we face.
Kids Central, Inc. will be implementing the following program model for the upcoming year:
Three Days A Week (Phased enrollment with Limited enrollment)
KCI Phase 1: Kids Central will officially begin the program year September 1st with all students enrolling virtually. Students will remain in virtual services for approximately 6 weeks as Kids Central reviews internal and community data. At the end of 6 weeks if conditions are favorable for face to face learning then Kids Central would implement the following program option.
KCI Phase 2: Kids Central will enroll a predetermined number of children for face to face center- based services. Initial opening will have an estimate of 4-5 children receiving face to face services while also having a small number receiving virtual services and remaining on a “waiting list” to transition into face to face services. This transition will be determined based on community, staff, and family data. For example, increased community spread, excessive number of staff quarantined may prevent further enrollment or cause a move into complete virtual services while a decrease may allow additional transitions.
Example: 1st day of school: Sept 1st – all children enrolled at Esserville begin virtual services. After approx.6 weeks if conditions have been determined to be favorable then Esserville would begin face to face services- 5 children (approximation) will begin……….5 will receive virtual services. Each 6-9 weeks (can be any timeframe) an overall program assessment can be completed to add more children to the classroom, not take any action or move into an all virtual status.
(Assessments could also be completed as needed if Virginia changes mandates, moves phases, etc.)
This option is subject to change at any time depending on the escalation of the Covid 19 Virus, changes in State Policy, Head Start Policy or other events or actions that would affect our service delivery system.
Kids Central, Inc. staff will return to work August 17, 2020. Kids Central will use this time for annual training events and other required activities. Staff will develop their virtual programming during this time to be ready to implement their programs September 1, 2020.
